Notable

What makes someone "notable"? As David Segal said, "Wiki-worthiness has quietly become a new digital divide, separating those who think they are notable from those granted the imprimatur of notability by a horde of anonymous geeks." (Ouch, burn.)

I don't claim to be an expert on Wikilaw. I leave it to you to judge our friend Randall Munroe. You and I know him as the author of the webcomic xkcd. You may not know, however, that he is...

The guy gets around.

  1. Well, at least all of these mentions of Randall call him "writer of xkcd" or something equivalent, rather than "former NASA contractor".

I just looked at the xkcd article, and they finally fixed it. It used to open, "xkcd is a webcomic created by Randall Munroe, a former contractor for NASA". Yeah, he worked for NASA for a bit. He's also a former high school student, may well have formerly had a job flipping burgers, and has surely done lots of other things for short periods of time that shouldn't define him.
